II.1.1) Title attributed to the design contest by the contracting authority/entity:
UK-London: restoring railway viaducts.
II.1.2) Description:
International competition seeking design ideas for a series of railway arch complexes in the London South Central area. Organised on behalf of the Cross River Partnership (CRP) and Spacia, the property arm of Network Rail, the project forms part of a wider initiative, headed 'Light at the End of the Tunnel', a strategic regeneration area on the south-side of the Thames. Although being run as an ideas competition the promoters may consider implementation if the competition produced a solution with good potential.

- Design - overall response to the site/s and the brief and the visual impression of the scheme/s.
- The ability to generate a novel idea or design concept that helps to stimulate the renewal of the viaducts in London South Central.
- Balance between the heritage aspects of the viaducts and the need to create modern, appealing spaces.
- Relationship and integration of the sites to their surrounding areas, and the extent to which schemes can help improve the public realm in the vicinity of viaducts.
- Feasibility of design proposals (recognition of the need for an element of financial and commercial realism).
