Greater Helsinki Vision 2050 - International Ideas Competition.
II.1.2) Short description:
The municipalities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kerava, Tuusula, Järvenpää, Nurmijärvi, Mäntsälä, Pornainen, Hyvinkää, Kirkkonummi, Vihti, Sipoo together with State of Finland (Ministry of the Environment) are organising an open ideas competition for the vision 2050 concerning land use spatial planning of the Greater Helsinki.
The aim of the competition is to find innovative ideas for the futureland use planning and develop sustainable strategies and concrete solutions for strengthening the status and competitiveness of the Greater Helsinki as an attractive region to live and conduct business. The competitors are expected to present their general vision for the Greater Helsinki in 2050 together with the detail study supporting it.

1st prize: 160 000 EUR.
2nd prize: 100 000 EUR.
3rd prize: 80 000 EUR.
The rest of the prize money will be distributed so that the minimum purchase prize will be 10 000 EUR.
By unanimous decision, the jury can redistribute the prize money in accordance with the Competition Conditions of the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA). The prizes will be paid out through the Finnish Association of Architects.
Note: If there are justifiable reasons, by a unanimous decision of the jury, the number of and relationship between prizes and purchases can be altered within the limits of the total prize sum. The value of the first prize and a purchase, as stated in the competition program, cannot be reduced. However the jury can decide not to award the first prize but still the full prize money available will be distributed.
