II.1) Project description
II.1.1) Title attributed to the design contest by the contracting authority/entity:
Architectural competition for the redesign of Eleftheria Square and the surrounding area.
II.1.2) Description:
To adjust the functionality and upgrade the aesthetic image of the square in such way in order to serve primarily pedestrians, as a place for relaxation, social gatherings and public venues, as well as the promotion of the Medieval Walls.
II.1.3) Site:
CY-Nicosia.

IV.2) Criteria to be applied in the evaluation of projects:
Quality of the architectural composition.
Presentation and respect of the Ancient Monument in its whole (bastions, moats, aligned section of the wall between the bastions 'curtain').
Compliance with the National Agreements for the protection of Ancient Monuments, archaeological and historical remains.
Design and suitable maintenance.
Sustainability.
Design and functional independence during the realisation of the project phases.
Complete design with definable characteristics and apparent quality, in relation to the general and direct environment both natural and anthropogenic.
Inviting design.
Design should contain points of reference in the town.
The project should promote Nicosia's identity within the frame of the competition among European cities.
Design and right access using the present and designed road system - parking spaces.
