Kehinde Wiley ist für seine kunsthistorischen Bezüge bekannt. In der Fondazione Giorgio Cini auf der Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore zeigt er eine „Archaeology of Silence“, die von Hans Holbeins „Der Leichnam Christi im Grabe“ inspiriert ist.
